IFRS Accounting Standards are developed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). The IASB is an independent standard-setting body within the IFRS Foundation.
IFRS Accounting Standards are, in effect, a global accounting language—companies in more than 140 jurisdictions are required to use them when reporting on their financial health. The IASB is supported by technical staff and a range of advisory bodies.

The International Accounting Standards Board (Board) in conjunction with the European Accounting Association (EAA) will hold a virtual research workshop aimed at academics on 30 October 2020.
The workshop will provide an overview of the Board’s Discussion Paper Business Combinations—Disclosures, Goodwill and Impairment. The purpose of the session is to obtain feedback from academics on the proposals in the Discussion Paper and to discuss relevant academic evidence.
The workshop will be moderated by EAA President Thorsten Sellhorn and includes presentations and a Q&A session by IASB staff, Board Member Ann Tarca, and Martin Glaum from WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management.
