The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, responsible for the governance and oversight of the International Accounting Standards Board (the Board), have today announced that Sue Lloyd has been appointed as the new Vice-Chair of the Board.
The Board is responsible for setting IFRS Standards, which are required by more than 120 jurisdictions around the world. As Vice-Chair, Ms Lloyd will work closely with the Chairman of the Board, Hans Hoogervorst.
Ms Lloyd has been employed by the IFRS Foundation since 2009. She was Director of Capital Markets and Senior Director of Technical Activities before being appointed as a Board member in 2014.
Ms Lloyd has experience in investment banking both from the UK and Australia, and is a former member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board. She has a master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
Michel Prada, Chairman of the IFRS Foundation Trustees, said:
Sue’s leadership skills and broad experience both in accounting standard-setting and the financial sector make her the perfect candidate for the role as Vice-Chair.
Hans Hoogervorst, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board, said:
I look forward to working closely with Sue. She is an outstanding Board member whose technical knowledge of IFRS Standards is widely respected.
Commenting on her appointment, Sue Lloyd said:
I am both delighted and honoured to be appointed as Vice-Chair and look forward to working with my fellow Board members, our staff and stakeholders all over the world to deliver on the priorities in our work plan.
Sue fills the role after Ian Mackintosh, who served as Vice-Chair from 2011 to 2016. The appointment is effective 1 November 2016. Her term expires on 31 December 2018 but can be renewed for a second term.
