The upcoming 2022 World Standard-setters Conference in London

This year the annual World Standard-setters Conference will be in person.

It will take place in London on 26–27 September at Hilton London Canary Wharf, South Quay, Marsh Wall, London, E14 9SH. If you are unable to attend in person, then you will be able to watch the plenary sessions of the Conference via the IFRS Foundation website.

The World Standard-setters Conference provides an opportunity to get an update on the IFRS Foundation’s activities. It offers interactive Q&A sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities with fellow delegates, IFRS Foundation staff and members of the IFRS Foundation’s two standard-setting boards—the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the recently created International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

The draft agenda is available here.

The World Standard-setters Conference is open to all national standard-setters. The IFRS Foundation has invited two representatives from each national standard-setter to attend the conference in person. Recordings of some sessions will be available to view after the conference. The invitations have been sent to all national standard-setters. The deadline for registering to attend in person is 26 August.

First board meeting of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)

The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) held its first board meeting on 20–21 July 2022 in Frankfurt, reaching an important milestone since its creation announced at COP26 in November 2021.

The ISSB’s remit is to develop sustainability disclosure standards for capital markets.

Ten members have already been appointed to the board and the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation are at advanced stages of the remaining appointments to reach the full complement of 14 members, with diverse expertise and from different geographical backgrounds.

At the July meeting, the ISSB began its discussions on its future priorities and on feedback from stakeholders on the two proposed IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, which are out for public consultation until 29 July 2022.

The ISSB did not make any technical decisions during this first meeting and will continue its discussion of stakeholder feedback after the consultation closes.

The recordings from the public sessions at the meeting can be accessed here.

New IFRS Navigator and file dispatch – important changes

IFRS Foundation has recently introduced changes to how you access our services.

File dispatch

Organisations that are IFRS Foundation’s licensees will be affected by a change to the automated file dispatch system. If you have a licence agreement with us, you would have received an email from the Translation, Adoption and Copyright Team informing you in detail of this change.

The IFRS Foundation has integrated the file dispatch function into its web shop. As a result, from 1 July the old file dispatch has been disabled and you will no longer receive files relevant to your licence agreement via an email with a downloadable link.

You will instead receive an email alert when new content relevant to your licence agreement is generated by the IFRS Foundation. You will then have to log into the IFRS Foundation web shop to view and download your files.

In order to do that you will have to register as a web user (if you are not a web user already) with the IFRS Foundation and complete the onboarding process. If you have not registered yet, please follow the steps outlined on the IFRS registration page.

If you experience any issues, please contact customer services.

Renaming of eIFRS to IFRS Digital

This is just a reminder that the new name for the eIFRS Subscription service is IFRS Digital and the content is hosted on the Standards Navigator. The content of eIFRS, which included the IFRS Standards and related information hosted in our publication directory, was incorporated into the new public website, accessible via a new Standards Navigator. eIFRS Basic users (provided free of charge to gain access to the core IFRS Standards) and eIFRS Professional users (the paid-for service to access all current and historic content related to IFRS Standards/entire publication directory). Users will need to ensure they re-register on the site to gain access to the full Standards Navigator which can be done here.

Round up of recent news for the national standard-setters

Here is a roundup of news related to the communication you would have received from the IFRS Foundation’s NSS Team in the last couple of months:

  • The IFRS Foundation organised a webinar for national standard-setters on 8 June to discuss consultation on ISSB Exposure Drafts IFRS S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information and Exposure Draft Proposed IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures. If you would like to watch the webinar again the recording is now available. Comment period for both EDs closes on 29 July 2022.
  • Applications in response to the call for candidates for the Sustainability Standards Advisory Forum (SSAF) closed on 11 July 2022. The SSAF will be established in 2022. The advice of its members will help the ISSB to develop IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards. Resources about the SSAF, including the Terms of Reference and the Memorandum of Understanding, are available on the SSAF page.
  • In April 2022, the IASB issued a call to national standard-setters for research on making materiality judgements. Further information is available here.
